Bike Rides around Lompoc
The Lompoc Valley and surrounding areas offer extraordinary cycling opportunities. Whether you’re looking for a flat cruise to the beach (Surf Beach Blast), a family spin on car-free dirt roads (Purisima Pedaler), a quick post-work climb (Miguelito Measurer), or an ultra-classic road bike adventure (Jalama Habit), there’s a ride to fit your needs. Of course, feel free to call or stop by the shop for more info on local riding, whether mountain, road, gravel, or family. Happy trails!
Miguelito Measurer
Featuring 1400 feet of climbing over 17 miles (mostly on perfect tarmac) Miguelito Canyon is a local jewel. Simply follow I Street south from Lompoc as it turns into Miguelito Canyon Road and rises gently for several miles.
For a more casual spin, Miguelito County Park at the four mile mark makes for a great turnaround point (it has bathrooms, picnic tables, and water fountains).
Immediately after the park, the road points up and challenges you with a solid 1-mile climb; the ride eases up after that, and wends its way through a beautiful canyon, ending at a stunning view of the Pacific (take care to stay left at the junction with Sudden Road). Simply retrace your route home and enjoy a fast, smooth descent (watch your speed!)
